Julia Mueller-Ristine Wins 2012 Andy Mill AwardĪspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club's core values of Commitment, Teamwork and Integrity were on full display at this year's Awards Banquet on April 12th at Bumps Restaurant.īoth younger and older AVSC athletes won awards in each core value category. AVSC Adaptive Head Coach Jonathan Mika was also named USSA's 2012 Adaptive International Coach of the Year.Īccording to a letter from USSA President Bill Marolt, " is to be congratulated for your club's commitment to adaptive sports." Each year more names will be added to Hall of Fame roster. Moving forward, AVSC will pay tribute to more people who left their mark on the organization with a rejuvenated Hall of Fame. The Club honored 13 individuals (or families) and Aspen Skiing Company for their legacy shaping the Club, but as Executive Director Mark Cole remarked, this was just the beginning. When you have been a part of the community for 75 years, you get to throw a great party to celebrate! A large, enthusiastic group of locals spanning generations made sure AVSC's 75th Anniversary Party on March 31st was one for the ages! and Klaus Obermeyer celebrate 75 Years of AVSC! Who says the season's over? Thanks to some great collaboration between AVSC and Aspen Skiing Company, members of AVSC's Alpine team including Pascale Augspurger (left) got some bonus training in at Buttermilk this past weekend! AVSC thanks Rich Burkley, Susan Cross, Travis Benson, the SkiCo Snowmakers who helped build the X Games Jumps, the SkiCo Cat Drivers who moved the jumps to build the course, AVSC coaches Kent Towlerton, Torey Greenwood and Pat Callahan and the parent volunteers who helped shuttle the athletes to the top all day long!
